Some doctors combine VelaSmooth with mesotherapy to obtain even better results which may last longer than either one of the treatments alone.
With Acoustic Wave Therapy (AWT), women can achieve smoother skin in the areas where skin dimpling commonly forms — the thighs, buttocks, abdomen and arms.
Acoustic Wave Therapy mechanically vibrates connective tissue in affected areas of the body, improving the skin's appearance by:
producing an inflammatory reaction that triggers the release of healing mediators, creating fibroblastic proliferation leading to a new, thickened band of collagen being deposited in the upper and mid portions of the skin.Dermasonic - Dermosonic
Noninvasive body contouring focuses waves of ultrasound on cellulite-ridden areas of the body, and it has been FDA approved. The treatment tingles a little bit, but doesn't hurt and so far has shown good results.
VelaSmooth massage the skin and cause the underlying fat cells to rupture and die, then be expelled naturally. Again, like all of the treatments, it's not for weight loss.
Mesotherapy
Also developed in France (where they must really despise cellulite!), mesotherapy is a treatment that involves a series of microinjections to the subcutaneous level of skin where cellulite dwells. Mesotherapy has not been FDA approved and the FDA warns consumers about its usage. Doctors in France have used mesotherapy for over 50 years to attack trouble spots and help women lose inches from thighs, buttocks, waist, bra lines, bat wing arms, under the chin, and for puffy eyes.
As recently as October 2005, the American Society of Plastic Surgeons reported at their annual conference that mesotherapy could be effective for reducing puffy under-eye bags.
Dermawave No Needle Mesotherapy
This is exactly what it sounds like. Mesotherapy minus the needles sounds great, but how exactly does that work? Dermawave utilizes a technology called aquaphoresis, which uses electrical waves to stimulate the absorption of the mesotherapy medication into the skin. Think of it as sweating backwards.
Endermologie
Over ten years ago, Endermologie was introduced by the French as a treatment that can reduce cellulite temporarily. Endermologie feels like a really intense massage, using miled suction to pull the skin into a small vacuum where the area is rolled and stimulated. This action causes subcutaneous fat, water, and body toxins to be released into the bloodstream and expelled naturally.
Little known fact: Endermologie came into existence first as a deep-tissue massage for injured horses. Horse owners using the system noticed how smooth the horse's skin became after using the device and realized they were onto something big!
During treatment, you wear a sheer body stocking for the duration, which takes about 45 minutes. Most people find the sensation of Endermologie quite enjoyable, and many come back as regularly as they get their hair or nails done because of the way it makes them feel. Combined with diet and exercise, Endermologie can make a huge difference in your body.
Synergie
Treatments are administered with a machine called the AMS, or Aesthetic Massage System, which is able to stimulate the subcutaneous level of the skin not accessible through traditional massage. Subdermal massage is able to change the fat content of the cells and eliminate the excess fat through the lymphatic system.
A typical Synergie treatment cycle consists of 30-minute sessions every three days or so for about 2 months, followed by maintenance visits to improve firmness and skin tone once a month. A facial treatment may take less time to perform and normally can be completed in 2-3 weeks.
Lipodissolve
Another injection-based therapy, utilizing a fat-dissolving drug called phosphotidylcholine, which is also one of the active ingredients in mesotherapy. Lipodissolve is not FDA approved and the FDA strongly cautions consumers against its use.
TriActive
TriActive is a device that uses light energy to "melt" cellulite, while massaging the skin to increase circulation and encourage drainage of lymph vessels. TriActive is FDA approved and works by the same principles that many other laser treatments also follow. While the skin is being cooled with a cooling spray, the laser is penetrating the skin and attacking the cellulite layer. The effect of the treatment releases fluids and breaks the bonds holding the cellulite together.
IonThermie
You guessed it, the French are behind this one too. Ionthermie is mostly a spa treatment, but can have quite an amazing effect if you only need to slim down for a day or two.
It sounds a little crazy, but electrodes are applied to your waist and then covered in thermal clay. The clay detoxifies and stimulates the muscles and connective tissue, eliminating fluids. After the treatment, skin is smooth and cellulite is much improved.
